STARTING XI

For Massimiliano Allegri, visiting the club from Emilia always brings back memories as he coached at Sassuolo in the early stages of his career. Allegri named a 4-4-2 formation, with Szczesny in goal; a defensive line of De Sciglio, Bonucci, Rugani and Alex Sandro; in midfield Danilo together with Bernardeschi, Zakaria and Rabiot; the front two, Dybala and Morata.

The match-winner, however, was sitting on the bench and wouldn't make an appearance until the 67th minute.

AN EVENTFUL ENCOUNTER

Sassuolo-Juventus proved to be an encounter full of twists and turns, with first one side on top, then the other. The opening exchanges favoured the hosts. Szczesny was called on to make a series of saves but capitulated with seven minutes of the first to play to a shot from Giacomo Raspadori.

ALL SQUARE AT THE BREAK

Sassuolo were not able to defend their lead until half time. In the closing seconds of the opening period, Juve equalised after Alvaro Morata had won the ball, which he passed to Denis Zakaria, who in turn served Paulo Dybala. The Argentine cracked his shot in under the crossbar. Half time, 1-1.

Kean Sassuolo Juve

KEAN CAPITALISES

The goal that rewarded Juve with all three points arrived with only two minutes on the clock. Alex Sandro headed the ball to Moise Kean. The sub, who had been on the field for 20 minutes, shielded possession well, before turning and blasting his effort beyond Andrea Consigli in the home goal.

The strike had come out from nothing when many thought the points were about to be shared.
