What a year it has been for Alex Sandro! First, he swung aloft the Supercoppa, then the Scudetto and now he has been crowned a Copa America champion with Brazil.

The 28-year-old wrapped up a successful campaign for both club and country last night, when he turned out in the starting XI for Brazil in the final of the Copa America at Maracana. Featuring for the full 90 minutes for Brazil, Alex Sandro helped play a crucial part in his team’s triumph.

Everton opened the scoring after just 15 minutes, before Gabriel Jesus made it 2-1 in first half stoppages after Guerrero found the back of the net in the 44th minute via a penalty. Brazil were then reduced to 10 men when Jesus was sent off in the second half, but a determined second half display saw Richarlison make the scoreline 3-1 at the stroke of the 90.

Overall, Alex Sandro featured in four matches for Brazil’s Copa America campaign, turning out for a total of 257 minutes.

An excellent triumph for him! Congratulations, Alex Sandro!
