Marco Landucci, assistant manager
After enjoying a professional playing career at Fiorentina, Brescia, Parma, Inter and Verona, Lancucci took his first steps in coaching when he worked with Fiorentina’s academy goalkeepers in 2005, before moving to Grosetto. Massimiliano Allegri appointed him as assistant manager during his two-year spell at Cagliari, and then took him to Milan as a goalkeeping coach. His switch to the Bianconeri sees him reprise the role of assistant manager.
Claudio Filippi, goalkeeping coach
Having graduated from Roma’s ISEF University in 1989, becoming a professional athletic coach in 1994 and a UEFA coach in 1997, Claudio Filippi is one of the most highly regarded and best qualified goalkeeping coaches in Europe.
He arrived at Juventus in 2010 following experiences with Verona, Roma, Siena and two spells at Chievo. Filippi has introduced new training methods at Juventus, such as the machine that fires shots at goalkeepers and the shield used to deflect crosses towards goal. These methods, coupled with more traditional training techniques, have been extremely efficient in sharpening the goalkeepers’ reflexes.
Maurizio Trombetta, first-team coach
After beginning his professional football career with Udinese in 1982, Trombetta returned to the club for the first of several spells over a decade later, assuming control of the Allievi side in 1994. He then stepped up to assist Giovanni Galeone during the senior team’s 1995/6 promotion-winning season, before their partnership continued with stints at Perugia and Napoli.
In 1998, he returned to Udine, linking up with Francesco Guidolin, with whom he would also spend a five-year spell at Bologna. He first worked with Allegri in 2006, when they both formed part of the returning Galeone’s new-look backroom staff at the Stadio Friuli.
Since then, Trombetta has gone on to become a manager in his own right at Sevegliano (2007-08) and Romanian clubs FC Cluj and FCM Târgu Mureș, before coaching Reggina’s Primavera outfit. Simeone
Simeone Foletti, fitness coach
Along with Bianconeri assistant manager Landucci, fitness specialist Folletti has also formed part of Allegri’s backroom staff at several different clubs. Their paths first crossed at Spal in 2004/05 and, following a year apart when Allegri was in charge of Sassuolo, they reunited at Cagliari before working together at Milan. He has a strong belief in fitness work being tailored to suit each individual’s needs.
Stefano Grani, physiotherapist and osteopathic manual therapist
Former male nurse and masseur, Grani first met Allegri in 2000 during the Tuscan coach’s playing days at Pistoiese. They were then reunited at Aglianese, where Grani served as the club’s physiotherapist as Allegri made the step up to management. Since then, the two have worked together at Spal, Grosseto, Sassuolo, Cagliari and Milan.
Roberto Sassi, head of training check
Roberto Sassi boasts an impressive CV which includes experiences with some of Europe’s finest clubs. After beginning his career in 1978 with Varese, Sassi travelled across the continent working with Lecce, Lazio, Avellino, Torino, Verona, Salernitana, Fiorentina, Valencia, Athletico Madrid, Chelsea, Parma, Sampdoria and Dynamo Moscow.
During his spell with the Blucerchiati, Sassi focused on youth development and devised the highly successful Training Check initiative. He then brought his methods to Juventus, with the club now reaping the rewards of his innovative blueprint.
