After nine seasons spent making history with Juventus, Barbara Bonansea will be leaving the Bianconere.
The No.11 has extended her contract with the club until 30 June, 2028 and, at the same time, is joining San Diego Wave on loan, a Californian side competing in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Barbara embodies the very essence of this team. Having arrived in Turin in the summer of 2017, she was among the very first to believe in the Juventus Women project, leaving an indelible mark on every pitch and, over the years, becoming the face and soul of the team.
The story between Barbara and Juventus is a footballing love story. She scored both the Bianconere’s very first-ever goal in Serie A, on 30 September 2017 against Atalanta Mozzanica, and the historic first goal in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, which came in September 2018 with a splendid brace against Brondby.
Ever since her first competitive match at the end of August 2017, when it took her just eight minutes to make her mark on the game and begin writing her story in black and white, her class and creativity have become the norm.
With that raw talent, her unmistakable stride and overwhelming charisma, Barbara has led the team with a series of achievements, decisive bursts of pace and unforgettable goals, stealing the limelight and winning the hearts of the Bianconeri faithful.
The statistics reflect a legendary career. With 248 competitive appearances, Barbara stands head and shoulders above the rest on the top step of the podium as the all-time record holder for matches played in the history of Juventus Women. Added to this are 96 goals and an extraordinary list of honours, including no fewer than 16 trophies: six league titles, four Italian Cup titles, five Italian Super Cups and one Serie A Women’s Cup.
Now, a challenge across the Atlantic in the NWSL awaits her. Good luck with this new adventure, Barbara!
