Second half goals by Cristiana Girelli and Arianna Caruso saw Juventus claim a 2-0 victory over San Marino at Vinovo on Sunday evening.

Juventus piled the pressure from the get-go and they nearly got the opening goal in the eighth minute of play when a cross from Lundorf fell to Girelli, who acrobatically struck it. However, it sailed just wide of the post. Cernoia fired a free-kick towards goal at the near post, but her effort was denied by Ciccioli at the near post. Bonansea came agonisingly close to grabbing a goal in the 26th minute when she turned her ball onto the woodwork, but that would prove to be the best chance of the half as it ended goalless.

Bonansea started the second half like she ended the first, with an effort that rattled the crossbar. Seconds later, her shot across the face of goal went out by inches at the far post. Chandarana threatened with an effort of her own from distance, that sailed just over the corner frame leaving Bacic at full stretch. Girelli’s header sailed narrowly over the target, but she did make it 1-0 in the 70th minute when a scramble in the box saw her put the ball over the line. Arianna Caruso, who had come on as a sub for Rosucci, doubled the lead in the 82nd minute with a tap-in from close range that wrapped up the result for Juve.

Juventus XI: Giuliani (Bacic 46’); Lundorf, Hyyrynen, Sembrant, Boattin; Rosucci (Caruso 64’), Galli, Zamanian (Berti 64’); Bonansea, Girelli (Staskova 80’), Cernoia (Ippolito 84’)
