Freiburg have yet to entertain Italian opposition on German soil. Tomorrow's Europa League last 16 return leg is therefore a first.

Juventus, however, have ventured into Germany in the UEFA Cup, the predecessor to the Europa League.

Here are some of the most memorable postcards from the Bianconeri's past visits.

Baggio Borussia Dortmund Juve

BACK-TO-BACK BAGGIO

Roberto Baggio left his mark in Germany, in Dortmund in particular. In the space of two years, from 1993 to 1995, the number 10 made the difference against Borussia.

In the first appointment, the first leg of the final, he conjured up two goals that put more than one hand on the trophy. He was decisive again in the second match, on 18 April 1995, in the semi-finals, with one of the most beautiful free kicks in his career.

Vialli Eintracht Francoforte Juve

BACK HEEL HERO

In season 1994-95, before facing Dortmund, Juve visited Frankfurt. Against Eintracht the match in Germany ended 1-1.

Giancarlo Marocchi netted the goal that gave Juventus a momentary advantage with a shot from outside the area, set up by a slick back-heel by Gianluca Vialli.

Colonia Juve De Agostini

UNDER SIEGE

To reach the final in 1990, when Juventus defeated Fiorentina, Dino Zoff's men were called upon to defend a 3-2 semi-final first leg advantage over Köln.

The operation was successful. The Germans, led by Thomas Hässler – a future Juventus player – could not make the breakthrough, despite long moments of siege.

Barros Karl Marx Stadt Juve

MARCHING ON IN MARX

It was not a question of philosophy, but the then-named Karl Marx Stadt provided the opposition in the same edition in the round of 16. The East German side were defeated 1-0 in the second leg after a 2-1 Bianconeri win in Turin.

The goal in the town whose original name Chemnitz has been restored was scored by Luigi De Agostini. In the following round, Juve would overcome another German opponent, Hamburg.
