Born in Paramaribo on 13th March 1973, today Edgar Davids turns 50.
And we want to celebrate this important day by proposing some of the most beautiful images from his and our history.
THE WINNING ONE
In black and white, Edgar won 3 Serie A titles in 1998, 2002, and 2003, adding 2 Italian Supercups in 2002 and 2003 and an Intertoto Cup in 1999. He played 235 games, spread from 1997 to 2003. He scored 10 goals, many of which were with irresistible actions, unstoppable raids that enhanced his dynamism and technique of someone who grew up in Dutch football, a place where quality is historically refined.
THE FIRST APPEARANCE
On 14th December 1997, Davids made his debut with the Bianconeri in Piacenza-Juventus. He arrived in the winter transfer window and represented a further strengthening of an already highly competitive team. And he was so from the start, raising the level of performance game by game. His integration into Lippi's Juve was immediate, and his performance knew no breaks.
THE MASTERPIECE
Among the masterpieces of the first year, there is Juventus-Milan. A match domiinated and won by the Bianconeri 4-1, and that Edgar experienced with adrenaline, to show his former team how wrong they were to let him go. The Juventus fans, who adored him from the first moment, went totally won over by his effervescence.
PITBULL
In this photo, where Davids seems to be getting away from the control of a "tough" player like Simeone, there is a moment that is extremely indicative. As a midfielder with an incredible competitive level, as attested by his nickname Pitbull, Davids can be found wherever there is a battle to be fought. He is not just a formidable destroyer of opponents' play, because he knows how to offer quantity and quality in his offensive contributions.
THE CHAMPION
When it comes to Davids, there is only one risk: to prioritize his warrior-like aspect and forget even just a little bit about the complexity of his game. The first Dutchman in the history of the club, Edgar interpreted the spirit of the team very well, the combination of class and temperament: "With Juventus, I learned how to win. I don't know how it happened, it's something that you breathe in the locker room air, concepts that are passed down from player to player, it's the feeling that millions of fans transmit to you, and there is no club in the world that gives you the same effect."
