There will now be a guaranteed Bianconeri presence in the two major international tournaments of the summer, after Brazil defeated Peru 1-0 at the Estadio Olimpico Nilton Santos to send them through to the Copa America final.
The game’s only goal arrived in the 35th minute when Lucas Paqueta turned home Neymar’s pass that would seal the all-important result, with Danilo starting and playing the full 90 minutes for Tite’s team, whilst Alex Sandro was an unused substitute. The win sets the Selecao up for a final at the fabled Maracana, against the winner of Juan Cuadrado’s Colombia or Argentina with the two taking to the field in the other semi-final in the early hours of tomorrow morning (3:00 CEST).
Turning attentions back to Europe, and tonight, Italy and Spain meet in the Euro 2020 semi-final at Wembley (21:00 CEST). A win for either side completes the double Bianconeri participation in both of the world’s international tournaments, with Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Federico Chiesa and Federico Bernardeschi all part of the Italy team and Alvaro Morata leading the line for Spain.
