The Men's First Team drew 2-2 with Fiorentina on Serie A Matchday 11, with Nick Woltemade and Gleison Bremer scoring for the Bianconeri.

THE MATCH REPORT

The deadlock was broken after just four minutes in Fiorentina’s favour, with Mateo Pellegrino putting the home side ahead following a corner. Luciano Spalletti’s side responded immediately, and in the 10th minute the Bianconeri had their first real chance. Following a cross from a corner, Weston McKennie rose highest to meet the ball with his head, only to see it graze the post to David De Gea’s right. The pressure didn’t let up and, in the 21st minute, led to a double chance.

Juan Cabal controlled the ball with his chest on the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that the home goalkeeper tipped away for a corner; from the resulting corner, the ball fell back to the same Juventus full-back who, from a promising position, fired wide. It was, however, the prelude to the equaliser, which came in the 32nd minute. Randal Kolo Muani changed pace down the right flank, beat Viery in a one-on-one with a superb dribble and delivered a pinpoint cross into the centre for Nick Woltemade, who was perfectly timed and coolly slotted the ball home to make it 1–1.

Five minutes later, in almost identical fashion, Kolo Muani went on a devastating run, once again laying the ball off in the penalty area for Woltemade, but this time De Gea closed him down. On the rebound, Teun Koopmeiners’ left-footed shot was deflected for a corner.

The second half began with a chance for Juventus. Douglas Luiz tried his luck from distance, but the midfielder’s shot went over the bar. In the 54th minute, however, the home side regained the lead through a goal from Alieu Njie. Once again, Spalletti’s side reacted immediately, and Douglas Luiz came within a whisker of equalising with a run into the penalty area and a header that went just wide.

The score was levelled at 2–2 in the 66th minute. Douglas Luiz took a corner, and Bremer beat De Gea to the ball in the six-yard box, heading it home to bring Juventus level once more. The Bianconeri pressed on in search of the winning goal, and it was Kerim Alajbegovic who tested the Viola goalkeeper, cutting inside onto his right foot and firing a powerful shot at goal. With four minutes to go, it was Jeff Ekhator who came close to scoring his first goal in a Bianconeri shirt, but his header from a cross went over the bar. In the closing stages, Guglielmo Vicario was outstanding, making a double save to repel the home side’s attacks, and ensuring the game ended 2-2.
