Gigi Buffon says he is keen for the Bianconeri to build on their three-match unbeaten run in all competitions and return to challenge for this season’s Scudetto honours as soon as possible.

Speaking after the final whistle of this evening’s goalless stalemate with Inter at the San Siro, the captain says Juventus will represent a force to be reckoned with once they are able to add consistency of results to the undoubted talent that lies within their ranks.

He said: “It’s a reasonable moment for us and we’ve got some players back. If we can put in positive displays more often we’ll be able to kick on and enjoy a strong season.

“We have got players who are potential stars but they’re young and need time to improve, as all youngsters do.”

After suffering a knock in the first half which forced him to play through the pain barrier, Buffon says he is unsure if he will be fit for Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach at Juventus Stadium.

But the custodian is perfectly calm about the situation, stating that the Bianconeri’s goal will remain in safe hands in the event of summer signing Neto getting the nod.

“It’s a heavy bruise and I played with a limp for 65 minutes, but that’s a good sign. If I make the Champions League game, great, if not we have an excellent second goalkeeper in Neto.”
