10 October 2025
After a strong start to their UEFA Women’s Champions League League Phase campaign with victory over Benfica, Juventus Women are ready to turn their attention back to domestic action. Matchday Two of the 2025/26 Serie A Women season sees the Bianconere host Como Women at the Pozzo-La Marmora stadium in Biella. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. CET on Saturday, 11 October.
On the eve of the match, Massimiliano Canzi spoke about the team’s mindset and the challenges ahead.
GROWTH IS THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
"All the players who arrived this summer were carefully chosen, both technically, of course, but also and above all in terms of character and humanity, because in a group of this caliber, we couldn't afford to include players who wouldn't help our younger players develop. Every decision was made with growth in mind. Growth, however, happens when the technical and human aspects go hand in hand, always. The new arrivals are helping us grow, and it's no coincidence that we sought out profiles of this type."
THE IMPORTANCE OF SQUAD ROTATION
"As I always say, playing every three days is difficult. Anyone who doesn't see the players' condition the day after a match can't understand the significance of what I just said. We're fortunate to have a deep squad, so we always manage to field a team that can perform at its best physically, otherwise our opponents would have a significant advantage physically. It happened in the Champions League against Benfica, who were rested the weekend before their match against us, and it will potentially happen every time—after a UWCL match—we face a team not playing in European competitions during the week. We'll have to be good at managing our strength and balancing the minutes the women play. I want to emphasize, however, that for us, every match is equally important; there's no one competition more important than another. It's clear that in Europe there's less margin for error because there are fewer matches, but in the long run, the league is what allows a team to play in the Champions League the following year; for us, that's extremely important."
A DIFFICULT AND COMPLICATED MATCH
"Como Women is undoubtedly a very well-organized team, with a coach who already led the club last season. Furthermore, this coach is probably the one in the Italian women's football scene who has gained the most experience at the highest level in men's football. It will be a very difficult, complicated match, just like the away match against Sassuolo. We know that, in 2025, easy matches no longer exist in women's football. Women's football has evolved significantly in recent years. To win, every match must be very well prepared and approached with the right spirit, and the match against Como Women will be no exception."
