Juventus Women secured a resounding 5-0 victory away to Austria in their fifth match of the UEFA Women's Champions League League Phase, below are their post-match comments.
CRISTIANA GIRELLI
"We knew it was important to win, especially considering how good we've been so far in the League Phase. We played well from the first minute, I'm happy with the brace, and I could have scored a third late on (laughs). On the fourth and fifth goals, I dummied and let the ball pass because I know my teammates. It was difficult for me to shoot, and I'm happy that both Pinto and Krumbiegel managed to find the back of the net. I'm happy when I score, but also when the others find the back of the net. Against Bayern Munich and Lyon, we dropped points that perhaps we deserved, so the 10 points in the standings are a bit tight given what we've shown so far in Europe. It will be tough against Manchester United, but we're playing in our own stadium, and we hope there'll be a big crowd to support us and give us a boost. We'll see how it goes."
MASSIMILIANO CANZI
"I'm happy with the performance because it wasn't easy. The result reflects a different game than it actually was: it was complicated, and we did a good job making it easy from the first minute. I explained to the girls at half time that we had to try to be as concrete as possible because goal difference matters, so we had to push for 90 minutes. I'm so lucky to coach players like Girelli who always put the team before personal matters: those goals and those plays also come from this attitude, as well as from the work done in training. We'll give our all against United and we know we're playing for a great opportunity: I saw a team willing to make sacrifices, to run back when necessary. We'll celebrate this excellent result until tomorrow, but after that we know we have to focus on the next matches that await us. Last year we played with three attackers, then we switched to a 3-5-2 at the start of the season, and now we're repeating what we've done in recent months: the three attacking players are part of our identity."
PAULINA KRUMBIEGEL
"The most important thing is that the team won: we prepared well for the match, against an opponent who continued to defend very deep. We were patient, and despite that, we managed to score a lot of goals. We continue to think about it, looking at each match, taking it one step at a time. It was important to get three points today, and then we'll see how things go in the rest of the competition."
