The Women's First Team are back in Serie A action with a trip to face AC Milan on Sunday, October 4 at 15:00 CEST.
Head coach Isaac Guerrero spoke to the press ahead of the match to preview the action.
THE VICTORY IN SWEDEN
“The result we achieved in Gothenburg was crucial, especially after a Champions League opener where we deserved more given our performance on the pitch. We faced the reigning European Cup champions, a very aggressive and physical side. The girls showed tremendous character and quality. After a spell in the first half when our opponents tried to overwhelm us with their intensity, we did well not to panic, to regain control of the game and to secure a clear and fully deserved victory.”
ROSUCCI'S RENEWAL
“I have nothing but good things to say about Martina [Rosucci]. I’m absolutely delighted for her. She deserves this contract extension and she also deserves her return to the national team. This extension is excellent news for the team too, as they know they can count on a captain like her for a long time to come. Right from day one, she’s helped us create a special bond in the changing room and she’s an exceptional leader off the pitch. On the pitch, too, her courage both with and without the ball enables all her teammates to raise their game. Together with the more experienced players, she sets a clear example for the younger ones.”
FACING MILAN
“We’ve got a big match ahead of us, a classic. We’ve already played a very tough and important match against Milan in the Serie A Women’s Cup. They have a very clear playing style, a squad full of talent and a well-defined identity, based on vertical play and quick transitions. It’ll be a challenging match, but we’ll try to control it by imposing our usual style of play.”
THE FIRST MINI ASSESSMENT
“It’s a long season, but the assessment so far is extremely positive. We are Juventus and we take to the pitch with the sole aim of winning every match. From 5 July until now, there has been a very clear progression. The team is keen to improve every day, striving to dominate the game and be increasingly aggressive in winning the ball back. The results so far have rewarded our efforts. We’ve secured qualification for the Champions League after navigating a really tough campaign, and we’ve won the Women’s Cup by beating the reigning Italian champions in the final with a great display of character. I can only congratulate the players and the entire staff, who are very talented and work every day to help these girls develop.”
