Juventus Women are officially one win away from being crowned champions of the 2020/21 season after a 6-1 win over Florentia in today’s Matchday 19 fixture at Vinovo.

Rita Guarino’s girls made a fast and furious start against Florentia and the early pressure paid off on just six minutes. Matilde Lundorf hit a cross-cum-shot that beat Amanda Tampieri to score her first-ever goal in Bianconera and most importantly give Juve the lead!

Juve kept pressing and Valentina Cernoia saw a good free-kick just palmed away by the opposing keeper soon after, before Andrea Staskova also went close with a powerful effort that was again foiled by Tampieri.

On the half-hour mark the Bianconere doubled their lead through Sofie Pedersen. The always-lively Cernoia put in a delicious left-footed cross into the box as the Dane connected with a great header that Tampieri parried only for the ball to bounce back up for Pedersen to tap home. Just before half-time it was three: Staskova showed great awareness to pick out Cernoia in the box and the Juve number 7 danced around her defender before hitting a powerful strike into the back of the net to have Guarino’s girls cruising at the break.

The visitors hit back early in the second half when on-loan Juventus Women forward, Sofia Cantore pulled an inviting ball across goal that was met by Melania Martinovic to reduce the visitor’s deficit. Cantore was again causing problems and forced Laura Giuliani into a great save on 58 minutes as the away side desperately tried to mount a real comeback. However, any hopes were soon dashed minutes later when Cernoia returned the favour from the first half to play in Staskova to score Juve’s fourth. Staskova wasn’t done there, as on 68 minutes the Czech forward turned home after brilliant work from Barbara Bonansea to make it five.

There was yet another sequential role-reversal, when a lovely one-two between Staskova and Bonansea saw the former finish past the Florentia keeper to make it 6-1. With the sound of the final whistle at Vinovo, Juventus Women will quickly look ahead to next Saturday’s game against Napoli, where three more points will officially crown the Bianconere as champions!
