Juve suffered defeat to Manchester City: as the English club won 5-2 in Orlando and qualified top of the group for the Round of 16. There were positive moments for the Bianconeri, as they scored two goals through Teun Koopmeiners and Dusan Vlahovic in a match which was controlled by the English side for long periods.

A COMPETITIVE FIRST HALF

The match started immediately at a high tempo: in the 3rd minute it was Bernardo Silva who called Michele Di Gregorio into action, who saved with his feet. However, City would take the lead shortly afterwards: in the 9th minute Alberto Costa's mistake lead to Jeremy Doku receiving the ball and beating the Bianconeri goalkeeper with a right-footed finish across goal. Juve reacted immediately and equalised in the 11th minute through Koopmeiners, who took advantage of a defensive error by City to score.

Pep Guardiola's team grew into the game as the minutes passed and in the 26th minute retook the lead through a clumsy own-goal by Pierre Kalulu, who diverted a harmless cross into his own net. Juve tried to react, but the weather conditions - with a sudden heavy thunderstorm - complicated the game in the final minutes of the first half. Di Gregorio was alert to deny Rayan Ait-Nouri and Omar Marmoush, and the sides went into half-time with Manchester City 2-1 up.

SECOND HALF: CITY ON TOP

The second half opened with City determined to put the game beyond doubt. In the 52nd minute they made it 3-1: Tijani Reijnders picked out Matheus Nunes on the right, who then delivered a cross into the centre for Erling Haaland, who managed to bundle the ball into the net. The goal broke Juve’s resistance and they struggled to regroup.

In the 69th minute Ederson found Haaland with a long pass, who coolly slotted through Savinho; the Brazilian skipped past Di Gregorio and laid it off to Phil Foden, who made it 4-1. A few minutes passed before Savinho made it five in the 75th minute with a great strike from outside the box that caught everyone off-guard.

JUVE CONTINUE TO FIGHT

In the last ten minutes, the Bianconeri tried to react with pride. In the 84th minute, it was Vlahovic who scored a consolation goal, finishing off a beautiful move started by Kenan Yildiz: a perfect through ball, followed by an excellent piece of control and composed finish by the Serbian striker to make the final score 2-5.

Juve's Round of 16 encounter is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 1st July at 21:00 (CEST).
