Juventus Women's maiden UEFA Women's Champions League campaign came to an end at the hands of Brondby as they bowed out 3-2 on aggregate.

After a 2-2 draw in the first leg, a 1-0 win on home soil was enough to see the Danes progress to the round of 16.

Knowing they needed to score at least one, Rita Guarino's side made a strong start and bossed the opening exchanges, albeit without fashioning any clear-cut chances.

However, the hosts gradually grew into the game as the half wore on and took the lead in the 33rd minute when Sorensen finished off from Kristiansen's pass.

The Bianconere came out fighting again after the restart and had a couple of chances to level, but the Danes defended in orderly fashion and were able to cling onto their slender winning margin.

“It's a shame to go out of the competition," Guarino commented after the final whistle. "We played well in the first half and had chances to score but sadly we couldn't take them.

“We made a few too many mistakes and you pay for them at this level. We need to grow and become more clinical if we're to turn games like this around.

“Brondby showed they're a side who play good football so congratulations to them on reaching the next round.”
