The Italian Cup round of 16 tie ended in success for Juventus, who beat Udinese 2-0 at home, securing a place in the quarterfinals. Palma's own goal and Locatelli's penalty decided the game.
The Bianconeri began their Coppa Italia campaign as they meant to go on by putting Udinese under pressure in their own half from the very start. Spalletti's team dominated the game, working hard to break down the Friulian defense. Two minutes later Juventus' pressure paid off when Koopmeiners rewarded McKennie's good run with a powerful pass, with the American making his two-hundredth appearance for Juventus today. He then found David in the center of the box, ready for a tap-in, but Palma beat him to the ball, scoring an own goal that broke the deadlock, making the score 1-0. The scoreline remained unchanged for the rest of the half, with Cambiaso coming closest to doubling the lead, attempting to capitalize on yet another pass from McKennie, but his effort was blocked by the visiting defense in what was the final thrill of the first half.
The second half's chances began once again with Kenan Yildiz, who in the 54th minute attempted a right-footed shot that whistled just wide of the post. Ten minutes later, a brilliant combination between David and Cabal sent the Colombian advancing into the penalty area. The number 32 swerved to his right foot and was brought down by Palma. Following a VAR review, a penalty was awarded. Locatelli, who had come on a few minutes earlier, stepped up to take it, wrong-footing Sava and putting Juventus two goals ahead. From then on, Spalletti's team managed their lead, with Conceicao's last-gasp effort at the end of the match being parried by Palma, and Joao Mario's shot going wide. The match ended 2-0 at the Allianz Stadium, securing the Bianconeri a place in the Italian Cup quarterfinals.
