- Juventus and NEC will face each other for the first time in their history in European competition. In addition, AZ and NEC will become the fifth and sixth different Dutch opponents faced by the Bianconeri in European competitions, after Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV and Twente.
- Juventus have won the competition three times, in 1976/77, 1989/90 and 1992/93. They are joint-second in the all-time ranking for most titles, alongside Inter, Liverpool, Atlético Madrid and Tottenham, with only Sevilla ahead of them on seven.
- In 1993, Juventus became the first team in history to win the UEFA Cup three times. Their third triumph came against Borussia Dortmund, with a 6-1 aggregate victory in the two-legged final: 3-1 in Germany and 3-0 in Turin. At the time, it was an outright record for most titles in the competition.
- Fabrizio Ravanelli is Juventus' all-time leading scorer in the UEFA Cup/Europa League with 15 goals. Roberto Baggio and Roberto Bettega follow with 13 each, while Darko Kovačević is fourth with 10.
- Giancarlo Marocchi holds the record for the most Juventus appearances in the competition, with 40. He is followed by Sergio Galia with 33, Alessandro Del Piero with 32 and Roberto Bettega with 31. It is a particularly interesting statistic, as the record holder is perhaps not one of the names that would immediately spring to mind.
- Juventus have reached four UEFA Cup finals, winning three of them: in 1977, 1990 and 1993. Their only defeat in the final came in 1994/95, against Parma.
