Juventus Women suffered a 5-2 defeat to Roma on Matchday 4 of Serie A Women. At the Pozzo-La Marmora Stadium in Biella, the visitors took control of the match in the first half. The Bianconere responded after the break, pulling two goals back through Redondo and Pavan, but were unable to complete the comeback.
ROMA MAKE A STRONG START
Roma started brightly and broke the deadlock after just four minutes, with Giugliano finding the net from distance. The visitors doubled their lead in the 10th minute through Pellegrino Cimò, who was set up by Rieke, before Corelli made it 3-0 three minutes later, getting ahead of Carbonell to score from a free-kick delivery.
Juventus looked to respond and came close in the 18th minute when Salvai's header was saved by Baldi. Five minutes later, Sarriegi tried to find space inside the Roma penalty area but was denied by a defensive intervention from Oladipo.
The Bianconere threatened again towards the end of the half, with Chiba testing Baldi with a left-footed effort in the 45th minute. However, deep into stoppage time, Roma were awarded a penalty for a Pinto handball, with the decision confirmed following an FVS review. Giugliano made no mistake from the spot to send the visitors into the break with a 4-0 lead.
THE BIANCONERE FIGHT BACK AFTER THE BREAK
Juventus made two changes at half-time, with Noordman and Pavan replacing Chiba and Sarriegi, as the Bianconere looked to change the momentum of the match.
Roma thought they had added a fifth goal four minutes into the second half through Pellegrino Cimò, but the effort was ruled out for offside. Five minutes later, Juventus pulled a goal back: Noordman delivered a low cross into the box and Redondo was on hand to turn the ball home and make it 4-1.
The Bianconere continued to push forward and came close to scoring again in the 69th minute through Librán, who had replaced Bartel shortly before. The midfielder controlled the ball inside the area before firing narrowly over the crossbar.
Juventus found their second goal in the 77th minute, with Redondo turning provider for Pavan, who finished to reduce the deficit to two goals.
Isaac Guerrero's side kept pressing and almost added a third in the 87th minute, when Redondo's header flew just over the bar. However, a minute later, Bergamaschi found the net to make it 5-2 and seal the victory for Roma.
Juventus were ultimately left empty-handed after a match shaped by Roma's strong first-half display and the Bianconere's response after the break.

GUERRERO'S WORDS
"It's difficult to analyse a match when you find yourself three goals down so early on. We were vulnerable, not strong enough in our duels, in defensive transitions and in certain situations. I'm disappointed because this team does a lot of things well and we worked hard on these aspects throughout the week, but we weren't able to put things right during the match. We all have to take responsibility, starting with me. We had 28 or 29 shots, while Roma created roughly half as many chances, but they were much more clinical. It's not a question of luck. We have to acknowledge our opponents' quality and work on our mistakes. However, this team is still fighting, and we showed that again today. We never stopped trying, scored twice and came close to making it 4-3. At half-time, we tried to make some tactical adjustments, particularly in how we dealt with transitions and occupied spaces, so that we could move the ball forward more quickly and cause problems for their defensive line. Our response in the second half was positive, but we have to assess the performance as a whole. We're going through a difficult period and we have to accept that, without losing sight of the good things we've achieved so far. I feel the players' trust and I see a united group that works hard and takes responsibility. That's what makes this result even more painful. We started the season by qualifying for the Champions League and winning a trophy. Now we have to rediscover our defensive solidity and consistency. We're only four matches into the league season, so there's still time to recover, but we have to react immediately, work even harder and build on the fighting spirit the team showed right until the final whistle."
