The Juventus Women's First Team took all three points at home by beating Fiorentina 1-0 on Serie A Women Matchday 7, thanks to a late goal from Estela Carbonell.
THE MATCH REPORT
The match was lively from the start, with Fiorentina attempting to catch the Bianconere defence off guard with Iris Omarsdottir's dangerous left-footed shot. Juve responded immediately as Carbonell sent in a cross from the left that found Emma Stolen Godo, whose shot from a few metres out missed the target.
In the 11th minute, Danielle de Jong was quick to close down Lina Hurtig and after 15 minutes, Tatiana Pinto found Carbonell in space and the Spaniard reached the byline and delivered a perfect low cross for Cristiana Girelli who shot over the bar.
The Bianconere were on the front foot, and in the 26th minute, Amalie Vangsgaard tried her luck with a powerful right-footed shot, which was saved by Cecilie Fiskerstrand. Before the break, the Bianconere had another chance. A quick counterattack involving Girelli led to Pinto shooting powerfully from outside the area, but her shot was saved by the Viola goalkeeper.
The second half began with Massimiliano Canzi's team immediately on the front foot. The first attempt came from Vangsgaard, who tried her luck from distance, but the Fiorentina goalkeeper was equal to it.
In the 55th minute, Chiara Beccari had a great chance after being picked out in the box by Stolen Godo. She created space for herself with a quick touch and shot towards the near post, but it went just wide. Canzi brought on fresh legs from the bench, including Michela Cambiaghi, who immediately tried to make her mark with a shot from a very tight angle that failed to find the target.
The striker tried again in the 76th minute with a left-footed shot from the edge of the box that hit the top of the crossbar. With six minutes to go, the Bianconere came close to taking the lead with a double chance for Abi Brighton. Two minutes later, it was Eva Schatzer who came close to scoring, but her left-footed shot from Lindsey Thomas' cross went over the bar. The pressure finally paid off in the 92nd minute, when Carbonell pushed forward and was the quickest to react to a loose ball in the penalty area, shooting and finding the net to give Juventus three crucial points.
