Juventus Women start their journey in this season's Champions League tomorrow evening.

Providing the oppostion are Swiss champions, FC Zürich, the side that reclaimed the league title from Servette, the Bianconere's opponents last season.

RECLAIMING THE THRONE

Zürich are the most successful club in Switzerland, with 23 league titles and 14 Swiss Cups in their trophy cabinet. Last year they reclaimed the title after two years without a trophy, the first due to COVID, the second after being ousted by Servette.

Revenge was served against Servette in the final of the play-offs, which decided the league crown. Tied 2-2 after extra-time, the match was decided on penalties, which Zürich won 5-4.

Martina Moser and Fabienne Humm were the scorers in the league decider, just as they were in the cup final, when they defeated city rivals Grasshopper 4-1.

CURRENT FORM

Zürich's start this year has proved more awkward with back-to-back defeats in the first three league games, against Servette and Grasshopper.

Then they found their stride, with three convincing victories against Basel (8-0), St. Gallen (5-3) and Lüzern (4-1). The top scorer on home soil, like last year, is Fabienne Humm, having already struck nine goals.

At the moment they boast the best attack but sit in third place, behind Servette, on full points, and Young Boys.

IN EUROPE

This year Zürich negotiated the qualifying rounds with ease to make it to the group stages for the first time after last season's journey was ended by Milan. This time around, Round 1 saw them win 6-0 against Kí and 1-0 against Apollon.

In the two-legged second round they faced Sarajevo. A crushing 7-0 success away was followed up with a 3-0 at home. 10 players found the net throughout the qualifying campaign, but once again it was Humm who emerged top of the charts with four goals, including a hat-trick in the first leg against Sarajevo.
