The Men’s First Team beat AZ Alkmaar 2-1 in the Netherlands on Thursday night, securing a third UEFA Europa League win of the campaign.
Luciano Spalletti and Federico Gatti spoke to the press after the match.
LUCIANO SPALLETTI
“I’m very pleased. We put in a solid performance against a strong side. We won a tough match by playing excellent football. Given how we controlled the match, we should have gone on to score a third goal. When you play matches on a pitch like this, it shows that you’re approaching the game with authority and quality, and with the right kind of courage. It’s not down to any one individual, but to the team as a whole. I’m pleased with every player, even those on the bench approached the match in the right spirit.”
FEDERICO GATTI
“Tonight’s victory is a brilliant one, it’s always difficult to win away from home, especially in Europe. It was very important for us to build on last Sunday’s performance and victory. Now, however, we must put this behind us straight away and turn our attention immediately to the league and the match before the international break.”
