The Women’s First Team scored twice without response to beat Como 1907 in the opening game of the 2026/27 Serie A Women’s Cup campaign.

After the match, Martina Lenzini and coach Isaac Guerrero shared their thoughts.

MARTINA LENZINI

“We already have a pretty good understanding of our style of play this season because, at this stage, we’ve been working on it with the coach for about a month and a half. It’s a way of playing that is totally different from what we’re used to, and I think from what we in Italy are used to, but we’re really enjoying ourselves.

“The coach asks a lot of us offensively, he wants a lot of movement, and to continue to attack, to be dynamic, to build the play and then, when the time is right, to try and score.

“It wasn’t an easy game today, also having in mind the commitments we have to come, but we’re the holders of this trophy and our head was definitely not on the Champions League. We had this game first, and from Sunday on we’ll be focused on St. Polten.”

ISAAC GUERRERO

“There’s no secret, these girls are talented, they’re brave, and every game they do that bit more. I’m seeing good chemistry, and everybody wants to play, but the team is before everything and the girls here have understood that from the first minute. They’re enjoying themselves playing their game and trying to take control, and that makes me happy. The credit is all theirs.

“When you want to be a team who takes the game to the opponent, you have to play in the opponents’ half and, step by step, we’re showing we’re able to do that. The next step is to spend more time in the opponents’ box, and I’m happy today because we did that a lot today and created a lot of chances.

“We still have room to improve. It’s August, and I’m sure that we’ll grow. After just five minutes at Juventus I understood that here, there’s no such thing as a friendly match. We’re Juventus, we have to try to win everything, and the Women’s Cup is a good challenge. It’s true that we have the Champions League [playoff] to contend with during this competition, but all of the girls need to earn their space. When one is tired, another will play, like we saw today with [Emilie] Mece’s debut. We’re taking this competition as a challenge and an important opportunity at this stage of the season.

“I don’t think Como will be a surprise to anyone, but that’s because they’re a high-level team, they have top players and a clear way of playing. For us, facing them was a great chance to test ourselves, and I’m sure they’ll play a big part this season.”
