Juventus’ Primavera were held to a 1-1 draw by Sampdoria on a rain-swept Saturday afternoon in Vinovo, a result that ended their 12-match winning streak in the league.

The Genoa-based outfit are the last team to have beaten Fabio Grosso’s charges in domestic competition this season and they made for another competitive encounter today.

In a contest starved of scoring opportunities, with the ball largely bogged down in midfield, the hosts eventually made the breakthrough in the 73rd minute when Grigoris Kastanos fired home from the edge of the penalty area.

No more than 60 seconds had passed, however, when Christian Tommasini was celebrating a Samp equaliser after poking past Emil Audero in a one-on-one situation with the Bianconeri keeper.

The goal sparked renewed life into the match and Juve came extremely close to finding a winner through late efforts from Fabio Morselli, Francesco Cassata and Guido Vadalà, but the visitors held firm to secure a point.

The result sees Sampdoria tighten their grip on sixth position, while Grosso and company extend their advantage over second-placed Virtus Entella to eight points, who however have a game in hand with today’s trip to Sassuolo.
