Adrien Rabiot’s France bested Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal 1-0 at the Estadio da Luz last night to go top of Nations League A Group 3. With just the one goal in it, the key moment of the game came just after half-time, in the 53rd minute, with Rabiot claiming the assist for the match-winning goal, whipping in a cross for N’Golo Kante to turn home. Both Rabiot and Ronaldo played the full 90 minutes in the top of the table clash.

Elsewhere in the group, Dejan Kulusevski scored his first ever goal for Sweden, as he got his country’s opener in their 2-1 win over Croatia. The hosts doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time, as Marcus Danielsson netted. Danielsson would be involved at the other end, handing Croatia a lifeline back into the game when he turned into his own goal eight minutes from time, but it would prove to be no more than a consolation. Kulusevski featured for 74 minutes in what was Sweden’s first win in the group.

In Nations League A Group 4, Alvaro Morata was a second half substitute in Spain’s 1-1 draw away to Switzerland. Atalanta’s Remo Freuler scored the game’s opener after 26 minutes, with Real Madrid and Spain captain Sergio Ramos missing two penalties in the match, before Gerard Moreno scored a late 89th minute equaliser.

Tonight, there’s to be yet another Bianconeri derby in Nations League A Group 1, with Federico Bernardeschi in the Italy squad, hosting Wojciech Szczesny’s Poland tonight in Sassuolo. Earlier, Merih Demiral’s Turkey will play World Cup 2018 hosts Russia in Istanbul.
