Remembering Scirea 

September 3, 1989. Every year, it hurts like that Sunday. A rainy Sunday in Poland. A Sunday in which Gaetano Scirea passed away, after observing Juventus’ awaited opponent in the UEFA Cup, Gornik Zabrze.

He was not just a champion, but an exceptional defender and a man of incredible stature. That day, in Poland, part of us faded away, because Gai was a part of us: he represented all our values, and he brought to the field an example of education, class, sportsmanship and humanity.

Not only was Gai was part of us. He was all of us.

And he still is. It is for this reason, today, as always, we huddle together with the Scirea family, in the memory of a unique man.
