The bond between Rita Guarino and Juventus Women is forever growing stronger: in fact, the coach has extended her contract until 2021. Alongside Rita, her staff have also prolonged their contracts with the club: Assistant coach, Matteo Scarpa, fitness coach Emanuele Chiappero, and goalkeeper coach, Giuseppe Mammoliti.
Her renewal only signifies a further sign of continuity for the Juventus team, which, since its birth in the summer of 2017, has had Guarino as a guide. The success story: in addition to the two Scudetti and the Italian Cup won, Rita has collected 63 official matches so far, winning 50 games in total – an extraordinary percentage. “For me it is a privilege and an honor to sit on this bench. An even greater satisfaction because this is a team that was born three years ago and I have put so much of my time, together with Stefano Braghin, to build it. To see it grow is a reason to be proud.”
THE CONCEPT OF VICTORY
“My concept of victory cannot go without performance. Every day you have to work to improve yourself and add a piece to build something important. The result is a consequence of all this. In the first two seasons, where we won so much, many things were crucial. The first year was decisive, the enthusiasm of a budding project at an important club, everything was under a magical fluid of positive energy, in a context where the black and white mentality is felt. In the second year, there has been more cohesion and the value of the team has still made the difference. The strength of a coach is always the team and I am fortunate to have a large group that allows me to make choices.”
THE NEW SEASON
"We're still at the beginning. I asked my players to take note of greater awareness. After two years we have all matured and grown up. The level is rising more and more. Now we meet teams that move the center of gravity, they put you in difficulty, it won't be easy to keep as many clean sheets. This season's Serie A sees teams increasingly equipped. If until a few years ago the results in some games were quite obvious, now it is no longer the case. Any match must be prepared to the maximum, we must always play by giving one hundred percent. Everyone enters the field to win and to put the opposition in trouble.”
