Just over 24 hours remain until Juventus come up against long-time rivals Milan at Allianz Stadium, and it is a game in which the stadium is expected to be at maximum capacity. Talking ahead of the tie, Mister Sarri had this to say on tomorrow’s fixture: “Milan has not started the season well, but they are a good team. It will not be easy; we will have to play with a different intensity compared to Wednesday.
“In football there are cycles; rebuilding to get back to a very high level is not easy. Milan have many young players and they are laying the foundations for an important future. We have areas of growth - individually, collectively and tactically. We are still not able to close out our games. However, this also highlights our strength in character which leads us to seek the victory until the end.
“Aaron Ramsey can set up many scoring opportunities to score. He has the ability to play as an attacking player in a solid midfield,” added the coach before speaking of Leonardo Bonucci’s influence in the team and that of Gonzalo Higuain’s. “We are asking a lot of Bonucci because the team needs him for experience and quality. In this first phase of the season he has been crucial. I hope that sooner or later I will be able to rest him. Higuain has strong motivation to do his best. Now, he is well. Both physically and mentally. He is giving us so much from a game development perspective.
He then touched on the condition of Ronaldo, who was substituted during the midweek game against Lokomotiv Moscow and Matthijs de Ligt, who didn’t make the trip to Russia: “Let's see what he can do. He feels a little pain in his knee, but it is nothing serious. De Ligt will try to train today but we will see his reaction.”
The press conference then concluded with Sarri sharing his thoughts on Douglas Costa and Adrien Rabiot: “On Wednesday, Douglas Costa wisely started to decentralise his position to find space. Thus, he was able to play the role of a playmaker well. Rabiot? In the future, I see him more in front of the defence.”
