Juventus Women followed up their important win at San Siro on Monday night with a convincing 4-0 win against the Viola, with Cristiana Girelli, Maria Alves, Barbara Bonansea and Lina Hurtig all getting on the scoresheet, in a result that sees the Bianconere remain early leaders of the Serie A table by two points.

Beginning in fast fashion, it took just four minutes against to open the scoring. Lisa Boattin’s corner found Girelli at the back post to volley in and give the Bianconere the lead for the second time in a week. Juventus Women continued to apply the pressure and Barbara Bonansea went through on goal before being fouled from behind by Louise Quinn with only the goalkeeper to beat. It was a straight red card for the Irish defender and a free-kick to Juve on the very edge of the visitors’ box, as La Viola were left in a precarious position after just 13 minutes. The Bianconere capitalised on their position, as Bonanasea’s hard free-kick could only be palmed into the path of Maria Alves by the keeper and the Brazilian tapped home to double Juve’s advantage after just a quarter of an hour.

The Bianconere easily maintained their lead going into the break with the visitors barely troubling them. Into the second half and after providing a handful in the first half, Bonansea got herself on the scoresheet with just over an hour on the clock. Girelli slipped in the Juve number 11 from the edge of the box and the forward made no mistake to make it three.

Juve nearly made it four 10 minutes from time, great work from substitute Lina Hurtig down the left-hand side saw her square the ball for fellow sub, Andrea Staskova, but Fiorentina keeper, Katja Schroffenegger just managed to get there. However, seconds later, Hurtig did indeed make it a fantastic fourth, as the Swede latched onto Bonansea’s delicious through-pass to score her first goal for the Bianconere.

The final whistle confirmed yet another big win in an early big week for the Bianconere!
