The Men’s First Team started their home 2026/27 Serie A campaign with a win on Saturday evening, beating Parma 2-0 at the Allianz Stadium.
Nico Gonzalez and Teun Koopmeiners each struck in the second half for the Bianconeri, who maintained their good start to the new league season.
THE MATCH REPORT
The first real chance of the game fell the way of Parma inside a quarter of an hour. A free-kick fell loose in the box, but Christian Ordonez’s attempt was wild and wayward.
Chico Conceicao came closest for the Bianconeri. Shortly after the half-hour mark, the No.7 looked to force something. Gathering the ball in the final third, he shifted into space centrally and fired a low shot at goal that clipped the post on its way behind.
Seemingly lifted by Conceicao’s strike. The Bianconeri looked brighter for a few minutes from then. Manuel Locatelli looked to pick out Douglas Luiz with a cross from deep, but Edoardo Corvi was able to come out and claim it.
With the break approaching, a free-kick just outside the Parma box presented Conceicao with another chance, but the Portuguese winger couldn’t get his effort to come back down having beaten the wall.
Douglas Luiz was the first to force Corvi into real action. A Pierre Kalulu cross from the right found the Brazilian in the middle, and he managed to head on target, but the Parma ‘keeper was equal to it.
The second half started brightly for the Bianconeri with a cleverly worked short corner between Douglas Luiz and Jeremie Boga. Cutting in, Boga centred for Jhon Lucumi, but he could only send his effort over the bar.
Seconds later, Randal Kolo Muani almost had a breakthrough. On the end of a good ball from the right, he just couldn’t stretch enough to turn it towards Corvi’s goal.
Boga was becoming a real reference point for each attack, and he continued to probe on the left. Another ball in from that very side caused Parma problems, and a half-chance fell to Jonathan David, but the Canadian’s effort wasn’t on target.
Conceicao created the next chance with some good play on the right, nutmegging Emanuele Valeri before crossing low. The chance fell Kolo Muani’s way, but he dragged wide.
Kerim Alajbegovic and Nico Gonzalez were introduced then for Boga and David, with Luciano Spalletti looking to build on the bright start to the second half, and Gonzalez immediately forced a fine save out of Corvi with a volley from the edge of the box.
Nico continued to make his impact felt, and within five minutes of having come onto the pitch he opened the scoring. Again from range, he hit a fierce strike that thumped off the post and found its way back to his feet. His second shot then took a deflection to leave Corvi wrongfooted and put the Bianconeri in front.
Parma looked to hit back instantly though, and Guglielmo Vicario was called into action twice in quick succession, including a top-class save on David Romero, whom he again denied with a more straightforward stop in the 85th minute.
The Bianconeri took back control soon after, and Kolo Muani came close to making it two but was well closed down by Corvi. Nico sought a second of his own in the last ten minutes with a free-kick, but his low shot pulled wide of goal.
In the 88th, Teun Koopmeiners doubled the lead to seal the win, just a matter of seconds after coming off the bench for Andrea Cambiaso.
And so the Bianconeri got off to a winning start at home and made it two wins from two to start the new Serie A season.
