A run down the left wing, a perfect first touch to put her one-on-one with a defender. Then, a nutmeg to get past her marker, a sharp burst toward the box, a feint, and a low shot curling shot into the far corner.
Goal.
It’s hard to capture everything that defines Sofia Cantore - her character, skill, drive, and speed - but that goal against PSG in last September’s Champions League qualifier came as close as one moment can to summing her up.
Over the years, Cantore has become a key player for Juventus Women.
Now, after a long journey filled with success, it’s time for a new chapter. Cantore is leaving Juventus to join Washington Spirit on a permanent deal. Her time with the Bianconere saw her make 128 appearances, beginning with a 17-minute debut in a 3–0 win over Atalanta Mozzanica on September 30, 2017 - a special day that also fell on her 18th birthday. What better way to mark the occasion than by debuting for Juventus Women?
Cantore quite literally grew up at Juventus. She won league titles and other trophies, climbing the ranks, and managed to establish herself as a vital player.
The 2024/25 season marked the peak of her journey so far: 18 goals in 39 games, her most prolific campaign yet. She capped it all off in fitting manner, too, by scoring in her final appearance - a 4–0 win in the Italian Cup final.
And so, she ended her Juventus career just as it began: with a victory.
A true professional with a radiant smile and infectious, unmatched, energy, Sofia leaves with our heartfelt gratitude and admiration.
Thank you, Sofi, for everything.
We wish you all the best in your next adventure!
