Uruguay denied Confederations Cup final spot

Martin Caceres featured for the full 90 minutes of Uruguay’s blockbuster semi-final clash against Brazil last night which saw the tournament hosts grab a late winner and book their place in the tournament final.

Fred provided the initial breakthrough for Brazil on the cusp of half-time and then Napoli’s Edinson Cavani leveled proceedings soon after the interval . However, Paulinho’s headed effort from Neymar’s corner kick four minutes from time secured the hosts’ progression to this weekend’s final.

The tournament final is scheduled to take place at 7pm (midnight CET) on Sunday at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro between Brazil and the winner of this evening’s semi-final between Italy and Spain.
