Cristiana Girelli's excellent performances throughout the month of October have been acknowledged. The Juventus Women forward was named Serie A MVP for the month by the Italian Footballers' Association.
The reasons provided for Girelli taking the prize are as follows:
The seasons pass and we find ourselves writing about yet another record, yet another goal, and yet another performance. We have a player here who is always changing, always improving, and always remaining true to her essence.
With Girelli it is no longer a matter of counting goals and assists. What we have come to appreciate most in her performances over time, which is why it's impossible to deprive ourselves of her presence on the pitch, is her way of reading the game and the sacrifices she makes to put herself to the service of the team.
We often associate the concept of sacrifice with out-of-the-ordinary moments, with difficult and specific situations that require equally difficult and specific reactions.
The reality is that, in Girelli's case, sacrifice is part of an ordinary day's work and she continually, match after match, shows the best version of herself. She has this attitude naturally, without having to force it, and it shows that it is just the natural evolution of her as a player and a person with Juventus.
