France made the ideal start to their Under-20 World Cup campaign in Turkey by recording a 3-1 opening victory over Ghana.

Les Bleus were kept at bay for the first hour of the encounter in Istanbul but then Geoffrey Kondogbia, Yaya Sanogo and Jean Bahebeck all found the back of the net within 15 minutes to round off a convincing display.

Paul Pogba featured for the full 90 minutes and was also given captaincy responsibilities by manager Pierre Mankowski. The 20-year-old midfielder will hope his team-mates can carry this strong momentum forward into the upcoming Group A fixtures against Spain and the USA, who will square up against one another later on this evening.
