Chilean wing-back Mauricio Isla experienced an injury plagued first season in the Bianconeri shirt following his summer move from Udinese but continued to work tirelessly to regain match fitness.

The high competition for places at Juventus meant that Isla was often limited to a seat on the substitutes’ bench but he still managed to end the season with a total of 588 minutes under his belt, spread across 11 appearances.

However, the final three fixtures of the campaign provided the opportune moment for the 25-year-old to demonstrate his return to full fitness and enhance his already impressive statistics.

One of the most important figures for a player returning from a long term injury is that of tackles won. Mauricio showed his conviction and determination to the cause by emerging with the ball from 73.7% of challenges contested.

The Chilean international’s quality was also clear to all upon viewing his passing accuracy. From his 304 attempted passes, Isla succeeded in picking out the intended target 87.2% of the time. Incredibly, his percentage remained almost the same inside the opposition half, completing 195 at 85.6%.

His contributions to the teams’ attacks were evident from his 42 crosses, 12 created chances on goal and assist in a winning cause during the 1-6 rout against Pescara.

Overall, Mauricio showed notable progress over the course of the year and will be looking to build on a series of strong showings during his consistent run in the side towards the tail end of the season.
