Juventus conducted their first training session of a brand new era this afternoon in Vinovo, with recently appointed manager Massimiliano Allegri putting his charges through their paces shortly after 17.30 CET.

After conducting routine medical visits this morning, the 46-year-old, unveiled yesterday to the media, wasted no time in getting down to work as he bids to have the Bianconeri fully prepared for August’s big kick-off.

Taking centre stage in bright July sunshine, Allegri began by leading the outfield players through a series of intensive possession exercises. These culminated in one-touch, two-touch and open play drills, designed to sharpen the team’s control and reactions following a summer of rest.

The intensity heightened when the goalkeepers, who had earlier been working with Claudio Filippi, joined their outfield counterparts for a tactical session. Proceedings drew to a close with an 11-a-side match on a reduced pitch, in which Sebastian Giovinco netted a double for the team in yellow and Matteo Liviero and Marcel Buchel found the target for those in orange.
