Massimiliano Allegri spoke in glowing terms of the Bianconeri’s overall team display after masterminding tonight’s sensational 3-0 win over Lazio in the cauldron of the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking to the media in the capital, the 47-year-old began: “Winning today at a tough venue, against a side who create problems for everyone they face, is a great result for us. We defended well, but credit goes to the entire team tonight. It was important for us to get straight back into our stride following Roma's victory.”

There were many bright displays on show during the three-goal triumph, but Allegri elected to reserve particular praise for the contributions of Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Roberto Pereyra and Simone Padoin.

Here is his assessment of the Bianconeri quartet:

On Pogba

“Paul played well tonight. He’s got the required quality to keep developing and become the best midfielder in the world. Performances like tonight’s should be the norm for him. It was his best showing of the season.”

On Pirlo

“Andrea had not trained with the team for practically ten days. His dictates the pace of the game with his passing and put in an excellent display tonight.”

On Pereyra

“Roberto’s got great technique and an important quality: he always drives towards goal with great intensity. It was also his best performance of the season. He only needs to work on his finishing, because someone like him should be getting six or seven goals a season.”

On Padoin

“I had no doubt he would turn in that kind of display, because he put in a fine performance against Parma. It may have looked straightforward, but it was anything but."
