Max Allegri was satisfied with his troops' display even though they leave Berlin empty-handed after a Champions League final "that turned on a few key moments – one of which saw us let in a rather silly goal."

Speaking after the game, the boss lavished praise both on the opposition and his own side.

"We played well from a technical and a tactical perspective, but we did struggle at times when they switched play. That said, we had plenty of shots on goal ourselves. We did everything we could. We were playing against Barcelona after all.

"The two goals we conceded tonight will serve us well and help us to improve, especially the second one. When you're up against a side with so many world-class players you know you can concede at any moment.

"All the same, I want to congratulate my lads once again for their superb showing this evening."

Losing one match takes nothing away from what has been a truly remarkable season for Juve and Allegri is already to looking forward to getting going again.

He said: "We've had a massive season and not only because of everything we've won. We'll start again from here and look to consolidate our position among the top eight clubs in Europe."
