Argentina reach Copa America semis

Carlos Tevez converted the decisive spot-kick as Argentina beat Colombia on penalties to seal their place in the Copa America semi-finals.

The 31-year-old secured a deserved win for an Argentina side who were denied the breakthrough on several occasions by an inspired David Ospina between the sticks.

Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi and Nicolas Otamendi were all thwarted by the Arsenal stopper before Tevez, who replaced Aguero on 73 minutes, was able to settle the shootout by a 5-4 scoreline after Jeison Murillo had missed in sudden death.

Argentina, for whom Roberto Pereyra was among the substitutes, will face either Brazil or Paraguay in Tuesday’s semi-final.
