Minutes after tonight’s final whistle confirmed a 3-2 victory over Roma at Juventus Stadium, Gigi Buffon chose to reflect on the breathtaking 94 minutes he had just participated in.
The captain, speaking to reporters in the mixed zone, believes an improved Giallorossi have bridged the gap on the reigning champions and will continue to represent a genuine contender as the season unfolds.
Buffon said: “Tonight confirmed that Juventus and Roma are on the same level. Both teams produced a great and exciting show. Several months have gone by since we conquered the Olimpico and showed ourselves to clearly be the best.
“Now it’s a different league entirely, they’ve developed and you could see that this evening. There’s still a long way to go in the title race, we’ve only played six games so far.”
