It was a game in which Juve dug deep, displayed character and were largely in control of things. Yet it wasn't enough. A late strike by Arda Turan proved to be the difference and so it was the Spanish champions who came away with all three points.

Moments after Mr Brych had called time on proceedings, Giorgio Chiellini gave his verdict to journalists.

He began: "We came here to play our game and we knew it would be like that. It was a match that should have ended 0-0 and we're disappointed because we deserved to take something from this."

Elsewhere Malmo's 2-0 defeat of Olympiacos means that all four teams in the group are now level on three points.

The Bianconeri No.3 observed: "We knew this was going to be a tough group and it's all been really even so far. The game in Athens is going to be very important and will go a long way to determining our chances of qualification."

Attentions now turn to the top-of-the-table clash with Roma on Sunday. With that in mind, Chiellini concluded: "Let's first get over the disappointment of tonight's result then tomorrow we'll get stuck straight into our preparations for Sunday's game."
