Fresh from their golscoring exploits during last Sunday’s 7-0 success over Parma at Juventus Stadium, Alvaro Morata and Stephan Lichtsteiner both took to the field for their respective national outfits yesterday evening.

Two-time European championship winners Spain – who introduced Morata for his competitive debut for the senior side in the 80th minute – ran out 3-0 victors over Belarus in Huelva on Saturday.

Isco put the hosts ahead on 17 minutes before Sergio Busquets doubled their advantage a mere 60 seconds later.

Pedro then wrapped up all three points for La Roja ten minutes after the restart to ensure Vicente del Bosque’s men went second in Group C, level on points with Slovakia.

Elsewhere, Lichtsteiner completed the full 90 minutes as Switzerland registered a 4-0 win against Lithuania in St Gallen.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, Josip Drmic opened the scoring at the midway point of the second half before Fabian Schar made it two shortly after.

Xherdan Shaqiri then helped himself to a couple of strikes in the final ten minutes as Vladimir Petkovic’s side rose to third in Group E, six points behind runaway leaders England.

Yesterday evening’s matches signalled the halfway stage of this November international break with the Bianconeri Azzurri contingent in action against Croatia at San Siro tonight.
