Lazio boss Stefano Pioli says tomorrow’s Coppa Italia final - the “biggest game of his career” - will be a stern test for his outfit, but remains hopeful this week’s work on the training ground can stop the Bianconeri bandwagon from rolling on at the Stadio Olimpico.

Previewing the clash in the capital, he began: “Juventus are a team with a great deal of quality. You can’t afford them time in which to play, they’re a threat all over the park. They’re an incredibly strong side but we’ll try to deploy certain tactics to cause them problems.”

Opposite number Massimiliano Allegri hailed Pioli’s impact on the Biancocelesti during his press conference, and the former Bologna boss, who has steered his side back into the reckoning for a Champions League place during his first term in charge, was quick to repay the favour, particularly when asked about Juventus’ European exploits this season.

“Allegri has had the strength and intelligence to deploy his ideas at exactly the right time. Now they’re in the Champions League final and are fully deserved of their place. Hats off to them.”
