Back in the team and back amongst the goals, Andrea Pirlo is currently enjoying a rich vein of form.

Tonight’s special set-piece to give the Bianconeri a 1-0 advantage was his second in as many games and enabled him to celebrate his 100th Champions League appearance in style.

Speaking to Sky pitchside following Juventus’ thrilling 3-2 triumph over Olympiacos in the pouring rain, he began by highlighting the magnitude of this evening's result.

The midfielder said: “It was an important victory, we went behind but remained calm to get ourselves back in it. The penalty at the end would have made things easier but it was key to claim all three points.”

Following their defeat at the hands of the Greek champions last time out, anything other than a win would have left Juventus with a mountain to climb going into the final two games of Group A.

The 35-year-old was quick to echo these sentiments, stating: “We knew it was all in our hands, now we’ve got to get everything out of the last two games. Let’s focus on Serie A now, and then we’ll think about the Champions League.”

Concluding proceedings by analysing the game further, Pirlo added: “We had plenty of chances, it’s a shame we didn’t put them away early on but we’re satisfied with the result.”
