It’s becoming a welcome habit for Andrea Pirlo to pop up with goals at pivotal moments.

This season has seen the Maestro open the scoring to set the Bianconeri on their way to victories against Empoli and Olympiacos respectively.

But tonight’s last-gasp winner against Torino in an intriguing Derby della Mole was the undisputed pick of the bunch, enabling the team to claim local bragging rights and maintain their title charge with another priceless three points.

Speaking to Sky pitchside following this evening’s thrilling encounter, the 35-year-old began by analysing that goal: “I followed the move all the way and Vidal did well to see me at the last second. I hit it with all my might and it went in. We’re all ecstatic.

“It’s brilliant to be able to win the derby in the last minute, especially with ten men, and it’s a great feeling we’ve treated our fans to.”

Ever the modest individual, Pirlo refused to dwell on his own personal contribution and instead reflected on the overall significance of a result which extends the Bianconeri’s remarkable home winning run.

He concluded: “The result allows us to continue building momentum. That’s the most important thing, then to win it in the way we did tonight makes it even better.”
