Massimiliano Allegri expressed his disappointment with the Bianconeri’s performance in this evening’s defeat to Sassuolo when speaking to journalists after the game at Reggio Emilia’s Mapei Stadium.

The Tuscan tactician says his men contributed to their own downfall with some poor decision making in the first half, in particular during the passage of play that eventually led to Nicola Sansone’s matchwinning free-kick.

Allegri began: “I’m very disappointed with the way we approached this evening’s game. There was no need for us to be tense and commit fouls near our area. There’s absolutely no excuse for it, we must grow quickly and take responsibility. We are Juventus and our approach needs to be different.”

His men will now aim to right the wrongs of tonight when they return to the training ground tomorrow, with hard work the only way to turn the tide ahead of their upcoming Serie A and Champions League commitments.

“We need to get through this by working and preparing for Saturday’s derby, then we’ve got the Champions League. Everyone needs to take the blame for tonight and I’m the first to hold my hands up. We must do better.”
