There’s just one stat for you to be aware of before reading Alex Sandro’s reaction to Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City that saw the Bianconeri top Champions League Group D and reach the knockout stages for the seventh time in nine appearances in the competition.

And that is that only Paul Pogba has provided more assists than the Brazilian so far this season (four), having played significantly more minutes than Juve’s marauding wing-back.

Add to that a 100% passing success rate in the opposition’s half, six crosses and five defensive interceptions and it’s easy to see why Alex Sandro was given a standing ovation from the Juventus Stadium crowd on his withdrawal from the action late in the second half.

Speaking to journalists after the game, the 24-year old was equally as clinical and efficient, saying that he could feel the positivity created by his recent excellent form coursing through his veins.

“I’m starting to pick up Italian and the group as the atmosphere in the dressing room is perfect for me to learn and develop. We want to move forward and repeat performances like this in the future. You can feel the positivity in the squad at the moment.

“Personally, I’m gradually finding my feet here and I hope to continue in the same vein.”
