Manchester City 4-1 Hull City

Manchester City will face Everton in the semi-finals of the English League Cup, having comfortably beaten second-tier Hull City 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

Taking the lead through Wilfried Bony’s early strike after Kevin De Bruyne’s effort cannoned back off the post, the Citizens took control of the tie and rarely looked threatened by their Championship visitors.

For all of the home side’s dominance however it took until the final ten minutes for them to put the encounter to bed with Kelechi Iheanacho and a Kevin De Bruyne brace taking the tie beyond Steve Bruce’s Hull who would at least add a late Andrew Robertson consolation goal in stoppage time.

U.D Logrones 0-3 Sevilla

Meanwhile, Unai Emery’s Sevilla all but booked their place in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey with a 3-0 first leg victory over minnows U.D Logrones last night.

Keen to avoid a cup upset against their lower division opponents, the Andalusians, like City, make the perfect party-spoiling start by getting their noses in front early on, midfielder Coke doing the honours after 12 minutes.

One soon become two for the visitors, who face Juventus in the final round of fixtures in the Champions League group stages next Tuesday, as Coke turned provider to set up Danish international Michael Krohn-Delhi shortly before the interval.

And the match, and effectively the two-legged tie, was put to bed just before the hour mark courtesy of Ciro Immobile’s predatory finish.
