Giuseppe Marotta believes the Bianconeri will have to fight off a stronger chasing pack if they are to claim their fifth consecutive Scudetto title come the end of the 2015/16 campaign.

The club CEO, speaking at the release of this year’s Serie A fixtures in Milan, identified four particular candidates he expects to give Juventus a run for their money throughout the course of the new season.

He began: “Many teams have strengthened. I see Inter as title challengers along with Roma, Napoli and Milan, who have brought in a new coach and moved well in the market. It will be a lot closer than it’s been in the last three to four years.”

The Bianconeri’s first away trip of the season to title rivals Roma is naturally a fixture that provokes great interest, but Marotta believes the game falls too early to have a significant impact on the eventual destiny of Scudetto honours.

“Both sides are equipped to fight for the Scudetto regardless of how the second game of the season goes. We’ve won four titles in four years with different fixture lists every time.

"Every match requires you to dig deep for the three points, so our early meeting with Roma won’t be decisive as far as the title race is concerned.”
