Juventus Stadium will host a fascinating evening of football when legendary names from Juventus and Boca Juniors face off in an UNESCO Cup charity fundraising fixture on Tuesday 8 September.

After the competition’s successful launch against the Real Madrid Legends last season, the Bianconeri, featuring the likes of David Trezeguet, Edgar Davids and Pavel Nedved, will this year be welcoming their Boca counterparts to Turin.

Funds raised from the evening’s entertainment will go towards two projects designed to improve the lives of former child soldiers and vulnerable youngsters affected by conflicts in Mali and the Central African Republic.

The progress of these initiatives was witnessed at first hand when Juventus Legends president Trezeguet joined UNESCO Assistant Director-General for External Relations and Public Information Eric Falt on a visit to both African countries.

The duo had the opportunity to speak to former child soldiers now back in full-time education at Bangui’s arts and trades school and Bamako’s TEMEDT center and saw how important a role sport has to play in helping to restore social cohesion and solidarity in places of hardship.

Falt said: “The support of Juventus is absolutely vital. We want to continue these projects and be in it for the long haul. We hope plenty of fans will come to the stadium and get behind our cause.

“It’s not just about a football match and seeing the legends of Juventus and Boca Juniors. It’s also about giving an opportunity to Central African Republic and Mali to dream again.”
